Fastnar du lätt i gamla mönster och rutiner som chef? Var modig och genomför förändringar när det behövs!

As a manager, it’s easy to get stuck in old patterns. It’s sometimes easier said than done to try something new and break away from established routines. Every industry looks different and therefore has different conditions and needs for change. Some industries embrace innovative leadership, consistently investing in new changes, while others adhere to the same old routines, rarely making changes.

At Puls Solutions, our core values are brave, simple, and considerate. Today, we will focus a bit more on one of them

Brave – We are brave because we dare to experiment and explore, finding new solutions to move forward and evolve continuously, striving to become even better.

However, there may be a fear of breaking the pattern and trying something new. Additionally, previous successes can be a reason why it’s easier for managers to stick to proven strategies and methods. Since it has always worked before, there is a tendency to continue on the same path that has yielded good results.

Furthermore, comfort and time constraints can be additional factors that make it challenging to implement new strategies. Making changes in the organization requires both effort and time.

It is important to be brave as a manager and dare to implement changes when necessary. Below, you will find some strategies that may be relevant for handling changes in a good and courageous manner.

Understand the need for change – It is crucial that you carefully analyze and comprehend the change taking place. What do we gain from it, and what improvements do we anticipate with the change? Determine if it is necessary and clearly identify the areas that need improvement. It’s important to communicate this clearly to your team.

Define the vision – Create a clear vision – it is important to establish a clear and inspiring image of why the change is relevant and how it will benefit the organization and its employees. Provide the staff with the right tools to ensure proper support during the change process.

Open communication – Inform the team and your employees why it is necessary to make the change, how it will affect them, and what is expected of them. The key is to maintain open and honest communication throughout the entire process. Be attentive, take in information, and consider their thoughts.

Create a plan – Developing a step-by-step plan is a good way to manage the change process. Taking small steps at a time can result in the “big change” not being as overwhelming and can be built up gradually.

Engage the team – Involve your team in the decision-making process and the implementation of the change. There is a greater likelihood of success when considering the opinions of the employees.

Handle resistance professionally – Be aware that there may be resistance to changes. Be open about fears and emotions, listen, and ask questions to understand the underlying reasons for the resistance.
