The Öresund Bridge, which connects Sweden and Denmark, was built in 2000 and will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. The celebration involves the organization of the Bridge Run 2025, which many are looking forward to during their anniversary year.
Öresund Bridge - Why was the bridge built between Sweden and Denmark?
The bridge connects the countries in various aspects, facilitating student life, work life, and cultural exchanges. The Öresund Bridge is a 15.9 km long fixed link, both above and below the Öresund strait between Malmö and Copenhagen.
A unique opportunity - Bridge Run 2025
As Sweden and Denmark are soon to be connected for 25 years, it must be celebrated. The Bridge Run covers a distance of 21.0975 km. This is a unique opportunity to participate, as the route is usually only open to vehicles. On June 15, 2025, two lanes will be reserved for runners participating in the race.
The Bridge Run has only been organized in the years 2000, 2002–2006, and 2010. Now, almost 15 years later, the next occasion approaches. Initially, the race, organized by Malmö Allmänna Idrottsförening (MAI), was intended to be a one-time event to celebrate the opening of the Öresund Bridge, but it continued. More bridge runs were organized by MAI, but in 2006, it stopped due to increased traffic flow. Next year, it will be organized by the company Øresundsbron in collaboration with MAI and Sparta Atletik & Løb in Copenhagen.
Do you have a long-term goal? - Based on the SMART principle
Most people can run the Bridge Run 2025 with a year and a half of anticipation with the right attitude. Smart goals? The SMART goal-setting strategy establishes precise goals and metrics in an easily accessible manner. It is a well-thought-out strategic approach to achieving objectives.
Specific – Clarity is the first step to achieve the goal. Be clear and specific about your goals and expectations.
Measurable – Set measurable goals to know when you are approaching your goal; otherwise, you won’t know if you are performing in a way that enables you to reach your goals. This way, you can see if you are on the right track or need to do something differently.
Accepted – What is your end goal? Set realistic sub-goals for yourself. What steps do you need to take to achieve the goal? Make sure you accept these sub-goals and that your end goal is acceptable.
Realistic – Goals must be realistic and relevant. If you set goals that are too difficult to achieve, it is easy to lose motivation. It is important to find a good balance as the goals should not be too easy either.
Time-bound – It is crucial to have a timeframe for your goals. It can consist of a start/end goal or different milestones. Ask yourself: Is it achievable within the given timeframe?
A SMART goal could be defined as follows: “Within a timeframe of 1.5 years, we will achieve participating in the Bridge Run 2025. This will be accomplished by my friends and coach conducting planned training sessions, which is expected to result in a measurable outcome.”
High pressure on tickets
The interest in participating in the Bridge Run has been beyond expectations. The pressure on tickets has been high, with 40,000 spots available, and when registration opened, they were prepared for demand to be significant but not enormous. Over 100,000 queued for tickets, and the pressure was so high that the website crashed, and all tickets sold out after 2 hours.
Increased awareness of health and well-being Why was the demand so high?
Today, many people are increasingly aware of their health and well-being, and we believe that may be one of the reasons. Both individuals and companies encourage good health, and individuals inspire each other. Since the race is further in the future, many have a chance to devise a long-term strategic plan. It’s about starting training early and having the right mindset. It may be that many have a goal to improve their health for the Bridge Run, while others want to do it to prove to themselves that they can do something they thought was impossible. Why do I want to run the race? It’s important to reflect and ask oneself that question.
Social media is now an effective and powerful tool for reaching and engaging a specific audience. It enables information to quickly reach the target audience or audiences you want to reach. The Bridge Run is also a unique opportunity, which may also be a contributing factor to the high demand.
